What is Black Day in Korea?
In the Western world, Valentine’s Day is the day to celebrate love.
In Japan and Korea, White Day is the day to reciprocate the love that was given to you by your loved one on Valentine’s Day.
So, what then, happens to those who are not in love or in a relationship? Well, there is a day to ‘celebrate’ this as well: It’s called Black Day and it lands on April 14th every year.
And what could be more appropriate for Black Day than eating black bean noodles – called ja jjang myun [짜장면] – all by yourself!
Happy(?) Black Day!
